Irlande - Castletown Trad Fest

Festival de danse et de musique irlandaises se déroulant du vendredi soir au lundi après-midi, au mois de mai, à Castletown, comté de Laois.
 

Les organisateurs  présentent leur festival :

"The Half-Door Club international Music and Dance Festival is a four-day event of set dancing and traditional music in Castletown, Co. Laois. There are 5 ceilithe and 3 workshops and sessions throughout."

"The man responsible for the name of our club is none other than the late inimitable set-dancing master, Connie Ryan. We have to go back to March 1993, when Connie and Betty McCoy were doing a weekend workshop in Newcastle West. Two cars arrived for the céilí that night from County Laois. John Sinnott was just moving into his ancestral traditional cottage where his grandfather was born. One of the lads mentioned to Connie about the half-door of the house where they would meet regularly.

During the céilí and on other occasions, Connie would be heard to say: “Oh! Here come the Half-Door Boys again” and so the name stuck."

Le festival international de musique et de danse du Half-Door Club est un événement de quatre jours consacré à la danse traditionnelle et à la musique traditionnelle à Castletown, dans le comté de Laois. Cinq ceilithes et trois ateliers et sessions sont proposés. L'homme à l'origine du nom de notre club n'est autre que Connie Ryan, l'inimitable maître de danse traditionnelle, aujourd'hui disparu. Il faut remonter à mars 1993, alors que Connie et Betty McCoy donnaient un stage d'un week-end à Newcastle West. Deux voitures arrivèrent du comté de Laois pour le céilí ce soir-là. John Sinnott venait d'emménager dans la maison traditionnelle ancestrale où son grand-père était né. L'un des garçons parla à Connie de la demi-porte de la maison où ils se réunissaient régulièrement. Pendant le céilí et à d'autres occasions, on entendait Connie dire : « Oh ! Revoilà les Half-Door Boys ! » et c'est ainsi que le nom est resté.
